Wolf Brew Games’ recent hack & slash retro homage, Slain, has just surpassed it’s meager $12,000 Kickstarter funding goal. With 13 days left in the campaign they’re certain to secure more funds to help them distribute the title to PC and most major console formats.
With an impressive art aesthetic developed by artists, Andrew Gilmour and Sam Henry, Slain draws heavily from Castlevania, Diablo, and the gory animated fluidity of Metal Slug. It’s a fun combination that works well. Despite vague ideas about the combat/leveling system the look alone has garnered the game some impressive attention.
All the more impressive is that this game is being delivered by a small development studio in Wolf Brew Games. Wolf Brew Games is quite literally a four man team consisting of Andrew Gilmour (Lead Designer), Asa Dang (Programmer), Nick Alfieri (Producer), and Sam Henry (Senior Character Concept Artist)
With their funding goals met, the game currently sits at $13,451. Stretch goals have been announced with $15,000 allowing the team to secure a dedicated professional audio designer and $17,000 aloowing the team to include a Horde game mode into the game.
